A Credit Union is not-for-profit community-based financial services provider. They are co-operatives, owned by the members, and cover a shared bond within the membership, usually a town or city or place of work.
We can accept a wide range of ID. We usually request valid photo ID along with at least two valid proofs of address. This could be a recent bank statement, utility bill, work reference letter, HMRC/DWP letter, letter from a supporting agency etc.
As a credit union, our savings accounts don't have interest but instead a dividend is applied each year. The dividend rate is announced each year at our AGM, and then applied to accounts the next month.
If you decide you need to withdraw some savings there are many ways you can request this. Either pop down to our office or one of our outreach sessions to complete a share withdrawal form. If you are unable to pop down to see us, we can also accept telephone and email requests. Withdrawals are paid to a bank account by faster payments or to an Engage card and are usually processed the same day as requested.
If you wish to open a joint account with another person we can do this. You will need to bring full ID for each person on the account.
To check your savings or loan balance with us either pop down to see us or give us a call and one of our team will help you. We also have an app to make it even easier for you to check your balances; if you are interested please let our office team know and they can assist in setting this up for you.
You can request a free statement by post or email for your savings or loan at any time by letting our office team know.
Our loans team work all through the week processing loan applications. We aim to have a decision on a loan application within 3 working days of the application being submitted to us. Once a decision is made, our loans team will notify you by text message or email.
All our loans have interest applied to them, however the interest rate can vary depending on loan type and length of membership.
Having bad credit doesn't mean you won't be accepted for a loan with JTCU. We like to help people who may have previously struggled with credit before and help them improve their rating. If you have any worries, our team can talk through options with you.
All your savings with JTCU are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, so you can feel confident that should anything happen your savings will be safe. JTCU is also fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
JTCU will only use your data in ways necessary to operate your account with us, whether that be a savings account, loans account or one of our other products. For more information, on our Data Protection Policy, please follow the link below.
